New Single “A Tip of the Hat” Available NOW!

David Beck’s Tejano Weekend released their transcendent EP, ‘A Tip of The Hat’ today.  For this project, the five-piece, Austin-based band pay homage to country music legend George Strait by putting their deft, upbeat Tejano spin on two of Strait’s hits - “Ocean Front Property” and “The Cowboy Rides Away.”  Check out the video for “Ocean Front Property” here.  ‘A Tip Of The Hat’ is available on all streaming platforms now.

Of the new EP, frontman/bassist/producer David Beck says "George Strait’s music is timeless, and knows no bounds.  I believe anyone can sing one of his tunes and it will resonate with all the power of a South Texas sunset.”

“'Ocean Front Property' was an easy choice, brought to light by our drummer Dees Stribling. He mentioned in passing that the song might work as a cumbia. If you listen to the rhythm section on the original track, you’ll notice the very unique halftime backbeat. It ended up translating beautifully to the four on the floor cumbia beat. David Herrera’s accordion playing takes over the lead transporting us from somewhere in Nashville down to central Texas. We also added alto saxophone played by our friend Brian Donohoe.”   Additional band members include John Saucedo (bajo quinto) and Peter Hyusman (keys).

Formed in 2017, David Beck’s Tejano Weekend’s boisterous live performances and dynamic mix of musical styles and influences have positioned them as ones to watch within the Texas music scene and beyond. No stranger to the stage, Beck performed with his previous bands (Sons of Fathers and Blue Healer) at some of the most iconic venues and festivals including The Grand Ole Opry, Bonnaroo, Gruene Hall and Austin City Limits.

The band’s 2019 debut album ‘David Beck’s Tejano Weekend Vol. 1’ quickly earned respect and traction within the Tejano music community and Americana circles.  They will release ‘David Beck’s Tejano Weekend Vol. 2’ later this year.
